That’s what happened at Bethany Baptist Church, Salem, Oregon. When someone closed a business, that person gave a legacy gift to the church, enabling Bethany Baptist to fulfill the church-planting vision that Pastor Tim Baker had shared two decades earlier.

“Every church plant is different,” says Casey Lute (on the cover with his wife, Kelly). Casey is pastor of Bethany Baptist’s church plant. Although churches start in a variety of ways, they all need faith in a big God, for He “is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine” (Eph. 3:20, NIV).
