David Strope and Clare Jewell

Q and A with Clare Jewell and David Strope

A day after Clare Jewell was chosen as national representative for the GARBC, he sat down for his first formal interview. He was joined by the interim national representative, David Strope. Right away they dove into a major part of their job—building relationships.

In addition to helping churches, the GARBC’s national representative also builds relationships with ministry partners. Clare, how will this be a priority for you?

Clare Jewell: The GARBC Council of Eighteen wanted somebody as national representative who was a networker, and that’s what I’ve been doing as executive director of ABWE’s EveryEthnē [an initiative to reach every “ethne” in North America]. You become a personal, walking, living library—somebody who can build connections, network with our pastors and churches, then with our local, state, and regional associations. I also connect with mission agencies, schools, supporting agencies, and the consultants who help revitalize churches. Build relationships, connect with people, get them engaged, build partnerships.
