Why Your Kids Will Quit Church and What You Can Do About It

DVD, Answers in Genesis, 43 Minutes, $12.99

This DVD should be a must-see for every Bible-believing church and every believer. Future generations of Christians are in jeopardy of being lost to sound churches, just as the last couple of generations have mostly been lost to the truth. In this presentation, Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis asks and then answers the question of why churches are not changing culture but rather are being invaded and steered by it. Shockingly, he points out that Sunday School in most churches is actually detrimental to kids, and he gives statistics and surveys to prove it. Ham’s main contention is that we must teach our kids how to defend the faith with apologetics, not just give out “Bible stories” without any real application to spiritual warfare.

As can be expected, Ham strongly emphasizes that Genesis 1—11, the first 11 chapters of the Bible, is the foundational part of Scripture. When Sunday School teachers and others in the church are uncertain about the chapters that deal with creationism and other vital doctrines and leave the matter of origins to public schools, the media, and so forth, they are laying the foundation for doubt concerning the rest of Scripture. Ham points out how this takes place, and that it happens before kids go away to college.
