Your church is gasping for air. Will you call the doctor? It’s a touchy subject, one that requires careful word choices. Churches don’t want to be told that they need a rescue or revitalization or revival. And no pastor wants to admit he needs help.
I recently thought of this while riding a commuter train. The guy across from me was reading a fitness magazine with a blaring headline for all to see: “Lose Your Belly Fat in Thirty Days.” And yes, he had the magazine propped up on his stomach. A brave soul—we need more like him. What if churches were like that?
Clare Jewell, the GARBC’s new national representative, joins David Strope, outgoing interim national representative, to answer our questions about church health and ministry leadership.
