It’s easy to think that Christmas and happiness go hand in hand, but for some people, that may not be the case. Sometimes Christmas is just plain hard.

Life, loss, lack of finances . . . any number of things can make for a hard holiday. Christmas isn’t always bows and baking and family and fun; sometimes it’s sorrow and sadness. That’s not to say that joy and sorrow can’t coexist. They can. And that’s what we should aim for when Christmas is hard. Christmas doesn’t have to be one or the other. It can be both and still be beautiful. Different, but beautiful nonetheless.
