Clare Jewell speaking.
Let me ask you as we kick off this conference, Where is your focus? What has your attention? When you look at your life or your ministry, what do you see? I’m going to ask the guys in the booth to bring up a slide. And let me ask you as they do, How many legs does an elephant have? Anybody think they know?

Elephants have four legs, right? But how many legs does this elephant have? Anybody having trouble zooming in on that, focusing in on that?
It kind of illustrates the principle that sometimes we can be deceived by our own eyes. Sometimes we’re seeing something other than what’s actually there. So where you focus determines your perspective, and in life and certainly in ministry, it’s easy to lose focus. In life and in ministry, it’s easy to get distracted. We stare at our phones. We focus on circumstances—I know I’ve done that many times. We look at someone else’s ministry. We lose sight of God. We don’t see what God is doing, and we’re trapped by our limited vision.
