God was at work in my dorm office that night. Ryan sat across from me, eyes filled with tears. He had just
told me that he was unsaved. He had been lying to his parents about it for years.
“What’s holding you back from telling your parents, Ryan?”
His reply planted a thought in my mind that has continued to grow over the past twelve years. “I’m scared that they will be mad at me when I tell them that I was lying about being saved.”
Twenty-year-old me would have laughed if he knew that college student ministry would be my calling. It was not my plan, but God had different plans that included eight years in the Student Life Office at Bob Jones University, two years of church ministry working with college students, and now dean of students at Maranatha Baptist University since 2020.
