Hindals Liberia2_thumb“Despite 14 years of devastating civil war, the independent Baptist churches in Liberia continue to preach, pray, and plug away,” says Chris Hindal, director of GARBC International Ministries. They deserve our prayers and encouragement.”

Chris and his wife, Deb, saw these ministries firsthand during a 12-day trip in Liberia.

A Packed Conference

The Hindals flew into Liberia’s capital, Monrovia, located on the Atlantic Coast, and then traveled interior to Gbarnga, the capital of Bong County. They had been invited by the African Fundamental Baptist Mission to speak at its Easter Conference. The four-hour trip is grueling under the best of circumstances. But due to two flat tires and mechanical complications, it was even more difficult, taking 10 hours. Nevertheless, Chris spoke that night, opening the conference with a message on the devastation of sin. He preached each evening, building to a climax on Easter morning, when he preached on the proofs of the resurrection. During the week, Chris and Deb taught morning classes to the men and women respectively. Chris also preached a morning series on the life evidences of the “new creature.” Chris and Deb praise the Lord for many decisions made during the conference. Of the 357 registered delegates, 39 professed faith in Christ and two rededicated their lives to the Lord.
