Millennials making fun of Millennials never seems to get old.

Worship leader Micah Tyler’s viral parody song “You’ve Gotta Love Millennials” has 4.4 million views on YouTube. And just behind with 3.1 million hits is the “Millennial International” video by popular Christian comedian John Crist. But the Millennial generation is more than YouTube satire. It may be perplexing why Millennials are living at home longer or not working full-time. And why in the world aren’t Millennials going to church?

Sure, we Millennials may not be as present in the pews as many think we should be. But see past the stereotypes and statistics for just a moment. Maybe I’m an anomaly, but I’m a Millennial still in church. And while I can’t speak for all Millennials everywhere, perhaps my story—and a bit of myth-busting—will shed some light on Millennials’ relationship with the church.
