TimCapon_INANKENY, Iowa—Tim Capon has been called as state representative of the Iowa Association of Regular Baptist Churches. Representatives of nearly 50 churches gathered March 1 in a special business session at Ankeny Baptist Church. Their vote was unanimous, ratifying the IARBC Council of Ten’s decision to call him to the position. He anticipates beginning in May.

Tim and Sandy Capon have been pastor and wife of Faith Baptist Church, Carroll, Iowa, for the past 23 years, and Bethany Baptist Church, Des Moines, from 1986 to 1990. Throughout his pastorates, Tim has ministered extensively with local churches, the IARBC, and Iowa Regular Baptist Camp.

He succeeds the ministry of Joe Hayes, who announced his desire to retire at the 2013 IARBC Conference in Mason City. The IARBC search committee, led by Pastor Jeff Holub of Fellowship Baptist Church in Des Moines, and the Council of Ten have been working for the past several months to fill the position.

“We are confident in God’s direction,” says David E. Strope, IARBC Council of Ten chairman. “God has been so good to us as a fellowship. The best days of the IARBC are yet ahead. God has been faithful, calling us to fellowship with Him and with one another.”
