Debra Quick, Pastor’s Wife

Debbie-QuickLaGRANGE, Ohio—Debra Quick, a former pastor’s wife and nurse, died on Jan. 11. She was 64.

Debra accepted Christ’s free gift of eternal life as a sixth grader while attending her church’s Pioneer Girls program. On June 20, 1970, she married her high school sweetheart, Bradley Quick. These two life-changing decisions were the foundations upon which the remainder of her days were formed and blessed.

Debra graduated from Harper Hospital Nursing School in Detroit and went on to work as a nurse in ICU and then geriatrics, always showing compassion to her patients.

She loved serving as the pastor’s wife at First Baptist Church, Elyria, Ohio, where she ministered alongside her husband for 26 years. Before arriving at First Baptist, the Quicks were pastor and wife at Wawasee Heights Baptist Church, Syracuse, Ind.; Union Baptist Church, Union, Ind.; and First Baptist Church, Blanchester, Ohio.

Brad preceded her in death on Aug. 19, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her father, Luther Vires; and four unborn grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Kim Kerr and Kevin Quick; six grandchildren; her, mother Bobby Jean Vires; and her siblings, Pam Wasko, Carol Vires, Robert Vires and James Vires.

Visitation will be held Jan. 16 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Elyria, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. at the church.

Debra had a passion for missions, particularly for missionary children. Memorial contributions be made to the Quick Memorial Ministry Fund, which supports missions, c/o First Baptist Church, 11400 LaGrange Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
