Kurt Schroder, Missionary Pastor, Ordained

December 19, 2012

HAGERSTOWN, Md.—Evangel Baptist Church ordained Kurt Schroder, a missionary with Continental Baptist Missions and pastor of Good News Baptist Church, a church plant in Cascade, Md.

The first to offer a challenge to Pastor Schroder was David Smith, the pastor of his sending church. Pastor Smith joined the service by Skype from Ladysmith Baptist Church, Ladysmith, Wis. Following Pastor Smith, three pastors gave encouraging challenges: Bill Long, pastor of Galilean Baptist Church, Shepherdstown, W.Va.; Jim Johnson, pastor of Capitol-Allentown Baptist Church, Allentown, Md., and representative of the DelMarVa Baptist Fellowship; and Ron Faith, pastor of Evangel Baptist Church, the host church.

Good News Baptist is the second church in which Pastor Schroder has served as a missionary with Continental Baptist Missions, the first being in Woodruff, Wis., from 1999 until its graduation in 2011. The Schroders teamed up with Evangel Baptist Church after completing that first ministry.

“At the same time that the Schroders were wrapping up their ministry in Wisconsin, Pastor Ron Faith and Evangel Baptist Church, Hagerstown, Md., had been talking about starting a church in a nearby area,” the Baptist Bulletin reported in April. “God brought the Schroders and Evangel Baptist Church together to begin a work in Cascade, Md.” Read more about Good News Baptist Church in “Teaching a Baby Church to Walk.”

Good News Baptist was welcomed into the GARBC fellowship at the GARBC Conference in Clarks Summit, Pa. (Read “Welcome Nine New GARBC Churches.”)

Pastor Kurt and Lori Schroder have four children: Jessica, Monica, Caleb, and Titus.
