Ruth Jingst, Former Pastor’s Wife

NORWALK, Iowa—Ruth Ingram Jingst, 88, died on Aug. 23, 2011. Ruth not only was a wife and mother to her family, but was her husband’s strongest supporter in his ministries. They served the Lord at the Federated Church, Hartford, Mich.; Grace Baptist Church, Smith Center, Kan.; Faith Baptist Church, Camp Point, Ill.; and Regular Baptist Church, Coralville, Iowa.

Ruth was born April 7, 1923, in Chicago, the daughter of F. Charles and Caroline (Ordemann) Ingram. She married Alvin P. Jingst on May 26, 1945, in Chicago. After retirement, they served at Faith Baptist Church in Iowa City and various hospitals and care centers in the area.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, on March 3, 2011; their son Peter; and an infant brother, Arthur.

She is survived by her son Charles “Chuck” Jingst; a sister, Edith Mefferd; four grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and Sharon Patterson, her son Peter’s longtime friend.
